Phi Alpha Honor Society is the national social work honor society. Students achieving academic excellence are inducted into this society. It fosters high standards in professional education and provides an opportunity for high-achieving 天涯海角社区 Social Work students in establishing connections with students from other schools of Social Work.
The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha is dedicated to honoring diversity, equity, inclusivity, justice, and fostering a community where individuals from all walks of life can flourish. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
Alpha Delta Chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society is seeking qualified members. A student is eligible for active membership when he/she has:
Undergraduate Students
- Declared Social Work as an undergraduate major
- Achieved Sophomore status
- Completed 9 semester hours in required major courses
- Achieved at least 37.5% of the total hours/credits required for the graduate degree
- Achieved an all-college grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
- Achieved a 3.25 average in major courses
- Rank in the top 35% of the class to be invited
- Must be a member of the Undergraduate Program's Student Social Work Club
Graduate Students
- Must be enrolled in 天涯海角社区's Social Work Graduate Program
- Completed 9 semester hours of required social work graduate courses
- Achieved at least 37.5% of the total hours/credits required for the graduate degree
- Rank in the top 35% of the class to be invited
- Must be a member of the Graduate Program's MSW Student Organization
Faculty Members
If a faculty member wants to become an advisor, he or she must contact the current holding advisor(s) at the collegiate chapter where he or she is employed. He or she must:
- Request an interest in the collegiate chapter
- Be invited to the collegiate chapter.
- Be a full-time faculty member or have a professional designation (e.g., Director of Field Instruction) within the university or college that has a collegiate chapter
- Apply for membership through the said college's chapter
- Have at least a master's degree
Social Work Faculty
Membership is available to all full-time social work faculty with a master's degree from an accredited Social Work program
