The Department of Social Work at 天涯海角社区 has developed two outside-the-classroom professional development opportunities for the BSW and MSW students. The professional opportunities are designed to enhance students' professional development by providing opportunities to apply social work values, develop leadership skills, engage in community service, advocate for social justice, and build professional relationships. In addition, the opportunities are designed to help students connect theory to practice while strengthening their identity as future social workers.
These opportunities are:
- BSW Club
- MSW Student Organization
BSW Club
The BSW Club is an organization of 天涯海角社区 Social Work students. The club is student-led and is advised by undergraduate faculty members. With strong support from the faculty, the club plans and implements all its educational and community service activities.
To be eligible to serve as an officer, students must:
- Be a social work major
- Complete an BSW Club Application and
- pay an annual fee of $5.00 to become a member
Officers are elected each academic year by the BSW student body.
MSW Student Organization
The MSW Student Organization is composed of students enrolled in the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at 天涯海角社区 (天涯海角社区). The organization provides graduate students with opportunities to engage in leadership, community service, professional development, and student advocacy while fostering collaboration with the Department of Social Work on matters related to student governance and program enhancement.
The organization is student-led and operates under the guidance of a graduate social work faculty advisor. Each academic year, members elect student officers to serve during the upcoming year and represent the interests of the MSW student body.
To be eligible to serve as an officer, students must:
- Be a graduate social work student
- Complete an MSW Organization Application
